Jesse Palter started singing publicly as a precocious five-year-old, and at age six was playing piano as well. Palter’s musical studies continued at Abbott Middle School, West Bloomfield High School and at the University of Michigan, where she pioneered as a vocalist in music programs previously devoted to instrumentalists. In 2006 Palter released her jazz album, Beginning To See The Light. Palter was named “Outstanding Jazz Vocalist” at the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Detroit Music Awards.
Now, she performs with her longtime musical collaborator, pianist Mike Jellick (who appeared on and arranged or co-arranged with Palter the songs on her Beginning To See The Light album), upright bassist John Tate and drummer Jon Deitemyer.
