Through intimate access to Eden’s mother, sisters and her best friend Arbel, Find Me, Okay? follows the fight to bring Eden Yerushalmi home, the moment hope collapses and the painful attempt to rebuild life afterward. A two-year portrait of love, grief, resilience and the difficult work of moving forward after trauma.

About the movie:

Saturday morning, Eden Yerushalmi and her best friend, Arbel, are dancing at the Nova Festival. Hours later, Eden is taken to Gaza while her sisters listen helplessly on the phone. What begins as a desperate hope for her return becomes a journey through uncertainty, public struggle and devastating loss.

A six-time Emmy Award-winning director and Sundance alumna, Haley grew up at Temple Israel, and we are deeply honored that she has chosen to share this extraordinary film with our community.

Following the screening, please stay for a special conversation with Haley Geffen and Rabbi Paul Yedwab as they discuss the film, its inspiration, and the enduring themes of courage, resilience, and hope.

About the movie:

Set during the devastating events of October 7, 2023, along Israel’s border with Gaza, Safe Room tells the remarkable true story of Dr. Gedalya Fendel, who rescues civilian families and shelters them in his home alongside his wife and children.

As violence unfolds outside, a group of strangers, including grandparents, a pregnant couple, and two young children whose parents were murdered—find safety within the walls of a single house. As the hours pass, fear, uncertainty, and the sounds of the attack surround them. In the darkest moments of their lives, they share food, silence, and the fragile act of waiting together.

What begins as a place of refuge gradually becomes something far deeper. In the aftermath of unimaginable terror, these families emerge forever bound together, discovering hope, humanity, and connection where it once seemed impossible.
